Yeah, I never played any of the Ultima games, but following through Spoony's retrospective, I can certainly see what an insult the ninth one was. Heck, even if I hadn't played the previous ones, I'd have found much of Ultima IX stupid and insulting. "What's a paladin?" Seriously? "What's a paladin?" YOU'RE a paladin, you idiot!

Actually compared to "What's a paladin?", making him easy to kill is very mild.

True. Honestly, none of the games seem fun to me. They all seem pretty dull, but watching Spoony's reviews of them was a lot of fun.

Personally I avoid it for the same reason I never bothered with the elder scrolls series: It's just a dime-a-dozen fantasy game and I have seen nothing that makes me really want to play it.
